We’re happy to share our most recent humanitarian mission. Thanks to our close collaboration with the nonprofit association “Una Voce per Padre Pio”, an Italian NGO focusing on children healthcare in underdeveloped communities, we successfully performed five pediatric maxillofacial surgeries at the Padre Pio Hospital in Yaou, Bonoua (Côte d’Ivoire). The Patrons of the World’s Children Hospital were honored to support and coordinate the corrective procedures for children born with cleft lip and palate—all successfully completed.

The Padre Pio Hospital in Yaou is a healthcare facility dedicated to serving the local population and providing specialized care for children with limited or no access to specialized healthcare. During the mission, 50 children were screened and specialized treatment was delivered to minors from vulnerable socio-economic backgrounds.

A multidisciplinary team took part in the mission, including maxillofacial surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and staff focused on clinical coordination, logistics and communications. The international team worked alongside local healthcare professionals to ensure thorough preoperative assessments, surgical assistance and postoperative monitoring, in an effort to build local capacity, which is one of the Patrons’ priorities: to enhance the healthcare capabilities of local communities.

We are proud to share that we achieved a meaningful goal for the children: improving their health, nutrition, speech, and overall quality of life. We also provided support to families facing hardship and strengthened our cooperation with local medical staff.

The Patrons of the World’s Children Hospital remain fully committed to their work under the leadership and the blessing of Pope Leo and are already focused on the upcoming missions, which will be shared with all of you soon.
